Minutes of April 25th General Meeting

1. Let all know that Kinsmen Park will be the test ground for a recycling program starting in 2007. The City will be putting in recycling bins and all users will be expected to put recyclables in the proper containers when using the park. They will be monitoring this program.

2. Advised that in the event of diamond light failure or other emergency, there is an emergency city telephone number to call, 905-683-4319. This number should be known by the umpires and team reps so they may call and report any park problems. Apparently the response time could be as little as 15 minutes to an hour.

3. City reps have assured us all outstanding items have been or will be fixed by opening day 2007. The warning tracks were a problem getting sprayed because of all the rain but will be finished with new clay by next season.

4. Diamond upgrades - We are expanding the dugouts at Centennial as the existing ones are inadequate. New Fences at Kinsmen North

5. We have advised all leagues that there are now defibrillators in all our parks and that they would be welcome to use them if they are using one of our umpires who has access to the bunkers.

6. Defibrillator training is being held on April 29th at 9 AM at the RCL. So far only 4 teams have submitted interest for training.
Interest from floor advised to email convenors.
7. SPO registration material handed out. All teams reminded that they must complete forms and return to SPO to validate team rosters for tournaments and insurance purposes.

8. Executive brought forward a motion that all tournament winnings must be collected by the winning teams by the end of the Saturday evening of the tournament.

9. Advised that Tournaments – Bat prize give away for June Tournament is Easton Synergy & August Tournament is Worth PST Seek & Destroy.

10. Tournament Seeding- June tournament Team # 1 plays the last numbered team in division etc, the August tournament will be done by standings as of the June 24th weekend.

11. Tournament Head Quarters - June Tournament 8th & 9th will be held at the Legion 606 and the August Tournament will be held at Papps. Directions for both will be put on the league website.

12. Executive proposed a Memorandum of Understanding with the City giving the city $100,000 to $125,000 for 10 years until Jul 1st 2017 in TRUST to be put towards the building of a men’s softball facility within the city limits. Al motioned, Keith seconded and passed.
13. Re-route – Road work at the bottom of Sandy Beach road it’s closed until mid June access to Kinsmen diamonds via Brock road.

14. Advised that new City fees could be coming as soon as next season. Executive will determine if fees will require a registration adjustment.

15. New Business
1) Teams reminded to send their rosters to both there conveners and SPO
2) Brian Spencer asked if there would be interest in a 50 and older division. Executive to canvas for interest.
3) Teams reminded that League requires a 2 week notice if teams do not intend to play in the tournaments. Fines will be levied.
